Do You Live in Your Clutter?

Sometimes when we move through the various stages of life we accumulate a lot of items. You and your family may have just moved into a more compact home, and the items you have may no longer fit into your storage space. From snowboarding equipment to old report cards – these items can build up in your home.

Are you battling that storage room every time you need to pull something out? While it may make sense to possibly get rid of the things you’re not using – sometimes we’re not ready to do so because we have an inkling that these items may one day come in handy. Until that moment comes, consider putting your items into our external storage units!

Psychology of Clutter

If you feel like it is impossible to clean up – you probably have too many things inside your home. Emotions and memories are often embedded in the items we’re holding onto making it difficult for us to get rid of them. Of course, we need to be reasonable – some people like to treasure their children’s items to track their growth – but it does not mean that all items should just be thrown into storage.

Sort out what can and can’t be used

Keeping old piles of newspapers, broken and outdated items and things that you know your family do not use or need are likely the things you should get rid of. If there is no direct functionality, get rid of it.

Why? A cluttered home often reflects a cluttered mind. Clutter can really make a person feel overwhelmed and burdened in their environment. It can contribute to negative thinking, depression, anxiety, issues with avoidance, and guilt.

A home should help create a sense of comfort and well-being for you and your family.

Having a lot of items in your home can also make your home difficult to clean as items take up space and collect dust easily. Consider moving items of true significance into storage and keeping your environment fresh and relatively minimal.
