4 Breathtaking Day Trips From Toronto That You Have to See!

It’s summertime and that means you’re going to be busting out the sports gear and escaping the city in search of adventure. A day trip is something we consider to be just a few hours of drive time there and back, leaving you enough time to explore, hike, and scream “wow”, and still get back to the city in time for some nightlife.

Everyone knows about Niagara Falls, but what about some of the lesser known places? We thought we’d clue you in on four breathtaking day trips from Toronto that you just have to see!

Dundas Peak

With so many great options in the GTA for hiking, it’s hard to choose just one. But since we can only bring you four entries, we had to go with Dundas Peak. Only about an hour’s drive out of the city toward Hamilton, and accessible by some beautiful nature trails, the peak offers some beautiful views over the valley around it. Not to mention some great waterfalls in the nearby area. Should take you only about half the day in general and you’ll have had an awesome hiking experience.

Eramosa Karst

Another hour-long sojourn from the city lies Eramosa Karst, a system of wondrous nooks and crannies in the earth that will keep you and the kids occupied for hours. So many mysteriously beautiful caves and fascinating rock formations to explore. This protected scientific area offers some wonderful entertainment and even some great educational opportunities for the kids.

Hunt for antiques in Aberfoyle

One of the most quaint and interesting towns in all of Ontario lies about an hour (we’re noticing a pattern!) to the west. Aberfoyle boasts from picturesque old-time vibes, a lovely little main street, and Canada’s largest outdoor antiques market! With over 100 vendors, you can find some awesome folk art, interesting old furniture, and trinkets from forgotten times. Bring them back with you to the city and show everyone a blast from the past!

Soak up the sun on Lake Simcoe

Ontario might not seem like a place you can go for some fun in the sun, but Sibbald Point Provincial Park on Lake Simcoe provides just that. Aside from the beautiful sandy beach, you can treat you and your family to an awesome picnic, and if you bring your hiking boots, you’ll have a nice time exploring the wooded trails near the lake. If you can manage to pry yourself away from the fun, you’ll be back in town by dinner time.

When the sun starts shining, it’s tempting to grab your gear and head out to enjoy all of the beauty that Ontario has to offer. These 4 breathtaking trips are only about an hour’s drive from Toronto, and should provide you plenty of weekend options for fun. We know the struggles of keeping all of your extra athletic gear, clothes, and equipment stored inside city apartments, so if you need a place to keep them that allows quick access before you head out on the road, just let Migson Public Storage know!
